Introduction

Hello everyone, my name is Marie Pastor and I was born and raised in San Francisco, California. I identify as a Pilipina American who was brought up and exposed to a few different cultures in my family such as Spanish, Hawaiian, and Pilipino.  I've always had an interest in World History because I grew up hearing many stories about my families’ struggles and journeys such as living through war, migration, managing through and dealing with culture shock and living through all kinds of discrimination and racial profiling. I also have an interest in World History because I have certificates in Diversity and Social Justice and Critical Pacific Islands and Oceania Studies. 

My hope for this class is for me to adjust to this new platform of blogging and to hear more stories, old and new of other people of the world. My concerns for this class lie in the time constraints (or time management) I have because I have been constantly at work due to this Covid-19 Pandemic. Most of my days are spent in a Skilled Nursing Facility where I work as a Social Worker in San Mateo County. I will be mainly writing from the Nursing Facility so the sights around me are either facility walls (or hallways), nursing staff or my clients/ patients.
